Find out Las Vegas news today, keeping up with Las Vegas local news can be a real job. Constantly changing landscape is what's happening. So know before you go what's new and hot in Vegas.

Las Vegas Strip said goodbye to another landmark on Nov 1, 2006, the Stardust Hotel Casino closed its doors. Steve and Eydie Gorme were the last act to perform in the Stardust showroom. The building will be razed early this year. It is earmarked for a property called Echelon Place, which will feature four small hotels, condos, a casino, shops and convention center. It is scheduled to open sometime in 2010.
As Las Vegas explodes, implode is the word of the day, MGM will be bringing down the Boardwalk Casino, located between the Monte Carlo and the Bellagio, a choice part of The Strip. It will be replaced by a new CityCenter, combining private residences, boutique hotels, a resort casino into the what is called a "lifestyle destination", where you work, live and play all in one spot! Their gaming resort will be a first-ever in Las Vegas history, a natural light  casino! When was the last time you saw the light of day in a casino? It sounds like the perfect spot for your second or third home, maybe even a primary residence.

Westward Ho is now closed. The Castaways is just a memory and one of my favorites from long ago the Tropicana will disappear as well. Oh, progress, how sad it is.

Hoot, Hoot Hooters! Yes you can believe A sports bar, an airline, and now a new hot hotel in Las Vegas. Hooters Hotel and Casino, can a good ole boy from Loris SC get any better? The Hotel San Remo is about to emerge in the Hooter's image, complete with the girls who made the name so famous. You can recognize South Carolina in some of the names of restaurants and bars, how about Porch Dogs and Bait Shoppe for down home lure. You'll love the new Hooters Hotel. Book Hooters now.
Better book it now, as since the demise of Robert H. Brooks last July, (the owner and developer), all of this may change.

Be sure and try the Las Vegas Monorail, bringing a much needed new way of getting around town. Nine trains will move along at 50 miles per hour, making 7 stops in what used to be a taxicab's nightmare. Go from MGM Grand to Bally's continue on to Harrah's, stay on for Paradise Road and the Las Vegas Convention Center, go a little past the Las Vegas Hilton, and rejoin the Strip at the Sahara. Wow! what a ride and just $5.00 for a single ride, or what we think is the best value, an Unlimited One-Day Pass for $15.00, good for unlimited travel for a 24-hour period from first use during operational hours. The Las Vegas Monorail operates daily, 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 a.m., Monday-Thursday 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 a.m. Friday-Sunday. Tickets are available at automated ticket machines at the Las Vegas Monorail stations, and for other information go to the "getting around" page

Shop till you drop in Vegas. Fashion Mall has just doubled it's size to 1.9 million square feet. How about a monorail in the shopping mall to save the feet? New and bigger Neiman-Marcus, Macy's and Robinson-May. Also now Nordstrom's is in Nevada at the Fashion Mall. You will also find Saks Fifth Avenue, Dillard's and Bloomingdale's Home. Be still my heart!...and just so you know how you should dress - you can view six fashion shows every day. Charge-Charge-Charge!

Hotels and hotel towers keep popping up. The Venetian is getting a new neighbor, named The Palazzo it should be finished in 2007.  The Donald is planning to build a condo and hotel combination on the New Frontier property and things just  keep changing!

The shows also keep changing their stages around town, you'll find out all you need to know about new shows and concerts, where they are and how to get tickets on our las vegas shows page and be sure to also visit las vegas night life page as well.
